Killer whale turns on trainer

A killer whale show at a theme park in the US state of Texas has gone horribly wrong when the whale involved attacked its trainer.

The attack lasted several minutes as a stunned crowd of several thousand looked on at San Antonio Sea World.

Justin Lecourias witnessed the attack as the whales tried to push the trainer underwater and bite him.

"The whale was staying between the ramp and the trainer and finally the trainer jumped on top of the whale's back and leaped over him and another trainer caught him," he said.

"The whale turned around and slammed down on the ramp and he was pretty upset that the trainer got out of the pool."

Vets believe the whale is near breeding age and felt threatened by the trainer.
